The Augsburg Puppet Chest, the famous puppet stage in the historic Holy-Ghost-Hospital, charms audiences with its “stars on strings”. Programs include fairytales like “The Puss in Boots”, funny like “The Robber Hotzenplotz”, serious like “The Little Prince” or cheeky like the annual cabaret for adults.

Staatstheater Augsburg
The State Theater in Augsburg has four divisions (music theater, plays, ballet and concerts). Stage plays by the Augsburg playwrite Bertolt Brecht as well as works by the “half Augsburger” W. A. Mozart are a regular part of the repertoire. In June and July the theater stages productions on the open-air theater at the Red Gate, the largest of its Kind in southern Germany and one of the most beautiful.

Congress at the park
Congress at the Park, located in WIttelsbach Park, is Augsburg’s conference and convention center in a facilty which is a protected monument. The concrete architecture and the sophisticated lighting concept typical of the 1970s make the Congress at the park an exciting venue. The schedule of events in the large concert hall (with seating for 1,400 people) ranges from symphony concerts to comedy shows.

Kurhaustheater Göggingen
The theater at the former sanatorium opened in 1886 in Augsburg-Göggingen. It is an architectural jewel in iron, glass and stone construction. The eclectic design, large stained-glass windows and rich decor characterise the light filled fairytale castle, which is situated in a historic park. The “Merian” magazine ranken the theater as one of the 200 most important cultural highlights in Germany.

Abraxas - House of Culture
The Abraxas house of culture has a well equipped stage for all kinds of performances, from oriental dance to rock concerts. Abraxas focuses on the year-round offerings of children’s theater, concerts and fairy tales for families, day-care centers and schools. There are also exhibitions, festivals, pub concerts and a popular beer garden.

Germany’s stallest opera house in Mering presents opera evenings in an intimate atmosphere. Paper theater figures move in scenes which originate from the 19th century with the support of modern lighting and computer technology. The repertoire includes works like “Zauberflöte”, “Freischütz”, Hänsel und Gretel”,”Der Fliegende Holländer”, “Faust” und “Aida”.

Jazzclub Augsburg
The Jazz Club Augsburg is located directly in the city center. Live concerts and events take place here and feature all the popular jazz styles with internationall known bands and local jazz musicians. Every year there are around 80 concerts, including Tuesday night jam sessions and band performances on Fridays and Saturdays.
