Jacob Fugger “the Rich” acquired the dominion of Biberbach in 1514. Apart from that, former Fugger palaces and numerous churches under the former patronage of the Fuggers can be found in today’s administrative district of Augsburg in, amongst others, Bobingen, Ehingen, Hainhofen, Gablingen, Leitershofen, Markt, Mickhausen, Nordendorf, Reinhartshausen, Schwabmünchen, Waldberg and Welden. An epitaph in the parish church of Graben is dedicated to Hans Fugger, who had immigrated to Augsburg in 1367.
The composer’s ancestors hail from the present-day administrative district of Augsburg. A certificate of the Oberschönenfeld monastery from 1331 gives us Ändris Mozart as the first known Mozart.
