This guided tour in search of the Fuggers in Augsburg gives insight into the history of the family empire which turned Augsburg into a world power during the 16th century. Visit the former family residence and likewise centre of trade, the Fugger city palace. Continue through the old city of craftspeople with the “Alte Silberschmiede” (Silversmith’s Workshop), a business which has traditionally provided the skill demanded of “Augsburg silver” throughout Europe. Finally, visit the Fuggerei, the oldest social settlement in the world, with the Fuggerei museum. The tour is concluded in the Anna church in which you will find the Fugger chapel with the tombs of Jacob Fugger and his brothers, one of the first structures and at the same time a highlight of the German Renaissance.
